Future Plans

I’m looking forward to spending time with my friends during the summer. Hopefully by then, quarantine will not be necessary and we can hang out at the mall or beach together. I haven’t seen them in person for a while now so it’d be nice to see them before going to off to college. Speaking of college, I’m also not sure if the first quarter or semester will be online or not. It sounds like we are at least going to be at the dorms though.

Would you rather teach a high school class or have your parent teach one of your classes?

I would much rather teach a high school class. Having your parent as your teacher at school would seem so weird and awkward. Part of what makes school enjoyable is being able to be myself around my friends, but it’d feel odd knowing my parent is watching me. Also, I would assume that I’d have experience in whatever I was teaching and I think I could be a pretty good teacher.

Favorite Aspect of Watching Movies

My favorite aspect of movies is their emotional power. A really scary movie can stick with you for a very long time, perhaps even your whole life. And an inspirational movie can inspire you to take up a new activity or do something amazing. Well written movies have the power to influence and inspire those who view them. I think this is a powerful tool that can be used for good and bad. Personally I also like how you don’t have to go to the theatre to watch movies because there’s something odd about entering a theatre, watching a movie, and leaving the theatre and all of a sudden it’s dark out. For some reason, after going to a theatre and coming out I feel like I’ve wasted time sometimes.

Dream Job

Currently I am about to major in architecture and possibly Japanese, but my dream job would be to write manga. I’ve always loved watching anime and reading manga as well as drawing. And I’m currently working on my own manga. If I could get a job developing my own manga and selling it that would be awesome.

Fun Friday: Would you rather be immortal or live a normal lifespan?

I’ve always thought about this question because most people will always answer “a normal lifespan” because they say living forever will be really lonely. I disagree. I’d choose to be immortal because their are so many things I want to learn and do. I could learn every instrument, every art style, and activities like that are great because you can build off of your own never ending creativity to create new songs and new art. When it comes to meeting people, I would have to agree that it would be really sad to outlive all your friends and family, however perhaps that is a worthy sacrifice an immortal person must take. I would still make a ton of friends, but it would be very sad to see them go.

Day 2: Thursday was the date of the May Day assembly. What is your favorite May Day memory? What do you miss most about the May Day assembly?

To be honest, I don’t remember much about any of the May Days. Personally I find May Day boring. People dance and there are a pair from each grade level that act as representatives. I respect the tradition and all, but it’s just not something that interests me. I guess the only thing I miss about May Day is being at school and seeing my friends.

Day 1: What was most helpful about today’s peer conferencing? What are your next steps?

I found that the rubric that my peer editor used was helpful. Also the conversation between author and reader is good because I receive insight on how my essay is actually received. From here, I will use the feedback I got to better my essay. Perhaps make it more relatable or add more reflection.

Day 3: Fun Friday! If you could choose anything, what would you want the state to reopen first?

I would choose to open up small businesses or certain restaurants. One place I really miss eating at is a Japanese place called Minori. Also, a lot of small businesses are suffering right now and it would help the economy to startup the flow of money again.

Day 2: What is one thing that has changed for you during this time of COVID19? You cannot say that you have to stay inside! Try to think of something unique to your situation.

One thing is that I have a lot more time. I’ve taken advantage of this time by working towards the dream I talk about in my personal narrative. Currently, I am working on my own manga and I must admit that before this quarantine I was slacking a bit. Now, I have time to learn new drawing techniques and work on my story/plot without much distraction.
